The centre will specialize in, among other things, customer experience, and will hire 50 highly skilled employees.

Quebec City honoured in two categories in the 2015-2016 American Cities of the Future rankings

Press releases - According to the 2015-2016 American Cities of the Future rankings compiled by UK-based fDi Magazine, which is published by the Financial Times Group, Quebec City placed in the Top 10 in two categories (Business Friendliness and Best fDi Strategy). A total of 421 cities in the Americas were evaluated by fDi Intelligence, a division of the Financial Times, and divided into five groups based on population size. Quebec City is in the mid-sized cities group, which includes urban areas with populations of more than 200,000 inhabitants and metropolitan regions with more than 750,000 inhabitants.

Why Larian is opening a studio in Quebec

News - Belgian developer Larian Studios, the company behind last year’s hit RPG Divinity: Original Sin, has expanded from its European roots to open a new office in Quebec CIty. The studio will initially house a core team of ten staff, with plans afoot to employ between 30 to 40 staff over the next three years. This would make the office as big as its current HQ in Ghent, and twice as big as its St Petersburg branch. The team will initially collaborate with existing teams on projects, including a new upcoming RPG, but eventually could work on its own titles.

Exceldor confirms the purchase of P&H Foods

News - Following the recent decision rendered by the Competition bureau, Exceldor confirms its purchase of P&H Foods, a turkey processing plant in Hanover, Ontario, and an investment in Golden Valley Farms, a further processing plant in Arthur, Ontario. These two plants will continue to produce products under the Butterball brand, as per a License Agreement with Butterball LLC, whose head office is located in Garner, North Carolina.

Another advancement in imaging from INRS professor François Légaré’s team

News - François Légaré’s team at the INRS Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre successfully imaged a chemical reaction with a spatial and temporal resolution greatly exceeding that obtained to date using microscopes. The team used a femtosecond laser source to shoot a molecular movie of how an acetylene molecule turns into vinylidene. An article presenting the advancement was recently published in the scientific journal Nature Communications.
