Davie awarded Vessel Life Extension Program for Canadian Coast Guard Ship CCGS Earl Grey

News - Davie announced the award of a new contract from the government of Canada for the Vessel Life Extension (VLE) of Canadian Coast Guard Ship CCGS Earl Grey. The vessel’s 9-month life extension program will take place in Davie’s secondary drydock, the Lorne dock. The program primarily consists of replacements and upgrades to engines, machinery, equipment and electrical systems.

Nemaska Lithium Secures $12.87 Million Grant From Sustainable Development Technology Canada for Phase 1 Lithium Hydroxide Plant

News - Québec City-based Nemaska Lithium Inc. announced that it has secured a $12.87 M technology commercialization grant for its Phase 1 Lithium hydroxide hydromet plant from the federally-funded Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). The Phase 1 plant is designed to produce 500 tonnes per year of high purity lithium hydroxide. Once built, Nemaska intends to use this facility to demonstrate its proprietary lithium hydroxide technology and produce commercial samples to send to end users primarily in the lithium battery market with a goal of securing off-take agreements in advance of starting operation of its lithium mine and commercial hydromet facility.

Quebec entrepreneurs drive ‘social industrial revolution’

News - Those cumbersome paper-based training manuals could soon become a relic on the factory floor if technology created by two Quebec-based entrepreneurs takes off. Alexandre Leclerc and Antoine Bisson founded Poka, a social platform for manufacturers to train staff using videos and other interactive content to be shared in real time through an iPad app. Poka claims its technology is helping to drive “the social industrial revolution.”
