OSQ welcomes its new musical director: Fabien Gabel

News - Fabien Gabel, the new musical director of the Quebec City Symphony Orchestra (Orchestre symphonique de Québec/OSQ), was officially welcomed during a ceremony held today at Quebec City Hall. In attendance were Christine St-Pierre, Quebec’s Minister of Culture, of Communications and the Status of Women; Régis Labeaume, Mayor of Quebec City; Olga Farman, OSQ Chair; Sophie Galaise, OSQ General Manager; and Louise Cordeau, OSQ Recruitment Committee Chair.

XEOS Imaging and the USGS to collaborate on digital camera calibration

News - Medicago announces that its shareholders have approved the second tranche of the previously announced investment of $22.5 million by Philip Morris Investments B.V. At the special meeting of the shareholders of Medicago, the second tranche of the investment by PM Investments was approved by 99.43% of the disinterested shareholders of Medicago. The second tranche of the $22.5 million private placement consists in the issuance of 17,200,000 common shares of the Corporation at a price of $0.65 per common share in favour of PM Investments for gross proceeds of $11,180,000.

Canada's Growth Prospect Downgraded Due To European Debt Crisis: TD Economics

News - An escalation of the European financial crisis and a deepening recession in the region will exert a significant drag on the global economy in the first half of 2012. This will negatively impact Canada, according to TD Economics, which shaved 0.2 and 0.4 percentage points of its Canadian growth forecast for 2012 and 2013 respectively from its September forecast. Real GDP growth is now expected to be 1.7 percent in 2012 and 2.2 percent in 2013. Against the fragile economic backdrop, TD Economics expects the Bank of Canada to keep its short-term interest rate unchanged at 1.00% until early 2013.
