Quebec International (QI) recently launched the 2013 Export Series program, which includes a comprehensive range of activities designed to provide regional companies with the tools they need for international success. Some 150 business people and economic development stakeholders were on hand for the event, which featured a presentation by Marc Dutil, president and chief operating officer of Canam Group, who described how his company has been conquering global markets for the past 52 years.
Geared towards seasoned exporters as well as entrepreneurs wishing to move into the international arena for the very first time, Quebec International’s Export Series has been updated for its second edition. New activities include a visit to US customs, a trip to Futurallia Turkey, an initiative focusing on Canadian and US government contracts, an intensive summer program focusing on international business development and additional sales and marketing activities. This year, the Export Series boasts some 60 activities divided into six thematic groups.
“Access to foreign markets is a requirement for regional growth and prosperity. According to a recent study, 40% of business leaders in the Quebec City area have expressed interest in diversifying their markets in 2013. This significant proportion clearly shows the importance of supporting companies wishing to boost their presence in external markets,” said Carl Viel, president and CEO of Quebec International.
The above activities are made possible thanks to the help of various private and public-sector partners committed to supporting Quebec International’s efforts to promote and develop external markets. These partners include Economic Development Canada, the City of Quebec, the Quebec City Bureau (BCN), the Minister of Finance and the Economy (MFE), Emploi-Québec, Export Quebec, Desjardins, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Joli-Cœur Lacasse, the Quebec City Regional Conference of Elected Officials (CRECN), Export Development Canada and RioTintoAlcan.
In addition to the Export Series, Quebec International organizes more than 80 activities touching on entrepreneurship, innovation and international recruitment, as well as activities geared specifically towards certain economic sectors (life sciences, green and intelligent buildings, optics/photonics, health foods, digital arts and interactive entertainment).
