Québec City Healthcare Industry Forum 2019: Shaping a Service Model that Reflects our Value

The president and CEO of Québec International, Mr. Carl Viel, announces the 13th edition of the Québec City Healthcare Industry Forum (QCHIF) on December 3 and 4, 2019 at the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury. Organized by Québec International and the Québec VITAE key cluster, over the years, the QCHIF has established itself as the largest annual meeting of the healthcare industry and is intended to promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the major players, whether they are manufacturers, researchers, managers, or decision-makers in the healthcare network.

This year, the event invites you to explore the potential benefits of a distinctive positioning of a Quebec healthcare delivery model focused on creating value. This premise has inspired the theme of the 2019 edition: “Shaping a Service Model that Reflects Our Value.”

“The QCHIF is intended to be the ideal place to build bridges and establish a real dialogue between industry, which develops the technologies, and the healthcare network, which uses them. Québec International is very proud to be associated with this Forum dedicated to the rise and growth of the life sciences and healthcare technologies ecosystem, to which the Québec City region makes a significant contribution,” noted the president and CEO of Québec International, Mr. Carl Viel.

A Program as RIch as it is Varied

Centred around four main topics, the program offers two full days of presentations and interactive workshops covering a variety of subjects dealing—among other things—with data: how to access, collect, measure, and quantify to evaluate results and costs; optimizing care trajectories through a modern funding method and incentives aligned with our goals; value-based procurement; and finally, organizing care to become a value-based system.

To enrich the discussions, the Forum can count on the contribution of more than 20 renowned speakers from the following organizations: Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec – Université Laval, Institut national d'excellence en santé et services sociaux, Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Trillium Health Centre, and Ivbar Institute AB.

Some of the presentations proposed by the attending international experts:

  • Promoting Innovation Through the Value-Based Acquisition of Innovative Solutions: Lessons Learned from Catalonia
Presented by Ramon Maspons Bosch, Chief Innovation Officer at the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia

  • The Model of the Value-Based Healthcare System and Its Integration in the World
Presented by Rifat Atun, Professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

  • BD – An Industry Perspective on the Value-Based Healthcare Model
Presented by Jamie Cundie, President and CEO, BD US and Canada

Local and international speakers from the public and private sectors will therefore each take their turn according to the day’s segments of presentations, panels, and thematic workshops to expand upon different issues.

In addition, four workshops offered by program partners BIOTECanada, Loran, Norton Rose Fulbright, and TACT Intelligence-conseil will take place on December 4, including:

  • Integrating Emerging Healthcare Technologies Is Possible
    Presented by Loran

Our current methodologies serve us well for the technologies that we know, but they have more trouble with innovations, emerging technologies, and their issues. How can we take advantage of these new possibilities?

  • Decoding the New Legal Realities in the Era of Technological Innovation in Healthcare
    Presented by Norton Rose Fulbright

Technological innovations in medicine continue to push the boundaries of what we believe possible and are revolutionizing our current healthcare system. However, accessing new and innovative technologies and software solutions involves certain obligations and responsibilities for companies and their clients.

  • At the Heart of the Major Reforms in the Healthcare Sector
    Presented by TACT Intelligence-conseil

A look at the major healthcare reforms and the context in which they have been implemented. What were the motivations that led the government to make these major changes? Let us take a look at what the future holds for the healthcare sector in Quebec and Canada together.

INPAQTS Showcase: The Successful Integration of Innovations in Public-Private Partnerships

Presented as part of the QCHIF, the INPAQTS project showcase aims to highlight innovative solutions from collaborative initiatives between industry and institutions in the healthcare network, which are helping to transform the healthcare system. The INPAQTS showcase is supported in particular by the Bureau de l’Innovation, Medtech Canada, and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé.

The QCHIF is made possible thanks in particular to the support of the following partners: Innovative Medicines Canada, Medtronic, the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation, BD, GSK, Janssen, and Merck.
