Quebec City, September 12, 2011 - Quebec International (QI) and the Quebec City region are shining brightly again thanks to their placement in Site Selection magazine's Canadian rankings.

The Quebec City region placed third in the Top Canadian Metros. This category evaluates the economic performance of Canada's metropolitan regions. The final result was calculated by compiling major investment projects. The Quebec City region was outpaced by Toronto and Hamilton.

In addition, the QI team saw its hard work rewarded again based on its placement in the Top Canadian Economic Development Group for the fifth straight year. This elite group is made up of 10 high-performing economic development agencies across the country. Various criteria are taken into consideration, including the number of projects with a regional impact, partnership-generating capacity, proactive attitude, implementation of innovative programs, quality of economic information distributed and quality of web communication tools.

"This success reflects the efforts, talents and synergies that unite Quebec's economic development actors. Each and every day, we strive to put in place innovative high-performance solutions enabling a growing number of companies from the region to stake out enviable positions in global markets," said Carl Viel, President and CEO of Quebec International.

In this regard, QI provides companies with a full slate of services in key areas, including international recruitment, marketing/exports, technological entrepreneurship and support for investors and subsidiaries of foreign companies. As coordinator of the Quebec City ACCORD program, QI also helps to develop key economic clusters and contributes to the implementation of innovation-related initiatives.

"These remarkable results indicate that we have everything to gain by pursuing the path of collaboration, particularly between the scientific sector and the business community. This growing sense of common purpose will be of great value, not only for local companies, but also for foreign investors," concluded Mr. Viel.
