Second edition of Devtech 50: 10 finalists announced!

Quebec City, August 11, 2011 - The jury for the 2011 edition of the Devtech 50 technology entrepreneurship competition recently announced the names of 10 finalist companies, selected from among 38 applicants.

Quebec City, August 11, 2011 - The jury for the 2011 edition of the Devtech 50 technology entrepreneurship competition recently announced the names of 10 finalist companies, selected from among 38 applicants.

"The quality of the applications impressed the jury members and certainly didn't make our task any easier! I'd like to congratulate and thank all of the participants. We received further eloquent evidence of the talent, potential and innovativeness that are driving our technology entrepreneurs", said Alain Dubois, President of Essor Strategies, Devtech 50 partner/presenter and jury member.

The 10 finalists will attend four high-level training sessions between August and October 2011. They will then present their projects to the jury when the competition wraps up on November 10 at the Quebec City Hilton. The winners will share a total of $90,000 in prize money.

"It is important for a region such as Quebec City, in which the knowledge economy plays such a key role, to ensure that our young technology companies benefit from a launchpad such as Devtech 50. This is all made possible thanks to the collective efforts of our economic stakeholders and the essential involvement of our valued partners", said Carl Viel, President and CEO of Quebec International.

In addition to receiving support from partner/presenter Essor Strategies, Devtech 50 benefits from the participation of gold partners such as BDC, CLD de Québec and Deloitte, as well as silver partners such as Inno-Centre, Teralys Capital and Norton Rose.

"We wish the 10 finalists the best of luck during the rest of the competition and we invite all those who are interested in entrepreneurship and innovation to join us at the grand finale of the event", said Mr. Dubois and Mr. Viel.

The 10 finalists are:

B-Temia: Specializes in systems designed to enhance human mobility capabilities.

XpertSea Solutions: Offers comprehensive solutions for operations management problems in the aquaculture industry.

Gullivert Technologie: Specializing in 3D engineering, this company is developing a new type of refrigerant compressor.

Veridis Solutions: Offers innovative approaches in the area of building energy management, combining cost savings, environmental responsibility and comfort.

ArcBees: Offers an open source approach-based development platform that simplifies the creation of dynamic high-quality websites.

Groupe Domax: This carwash industry specialist offers consumers environmentally friendly solutions based on very low water consumption.

Caristix: Offers software/service solutions aimed at facilitating data sharing and decision making in highly critical environments such as the healthcare sector.

Memostars: Offers an innovative platform that rewards users based on their ability to memorize advertising messages on partners' websites.

Second Cycle: Operates a transactional web portal providing services to stakeholders in the waste management market with a view to facilitating and prioritizing reuse and recycling.

Devolutions: Offers a product enabling companies to reduce their network maintenance costs by allowing them to remotely manage their connections via a portal providing information on the company's infrastructure.
