The CEO’s Column: Local Businesses in Global Media (May 2021)

These days in Quebec, there is a lot of discussion around the loosening of restrictions, the economic recovery, and a summer full of positivity. And to top it off, international media have been talking about some of our local businesses! With June already on our doorstep, it is once again time for my monthly column, where I highlight businesses that made the news outside Quebec due to major achievements, acquisitions, or any other aspect that showcases Quebec’s dynamism.

Here are some announcements that caught our attention these past few weeks and that helped promote the Québec City region’s ingenuity, creativity or determination internationally.

Coractive

Coractive specializes in the design and manufacture of optical fibre for industrial applications. To help maintain its position as a leader in its field, Coractive recently announced an investment of over $34M to build a new production facility, which will also become its head office, in the Espace d’innovation Michelet. This project, supported in part by our team, has received media attention throughout the world.

This announcement was shared across the province of Quebec but also in countries where Canadian food products are available.
